Charlie Matejowsky’s path to becoming a respected educator in the insurance and financial services world began long before he ever stepped into a classroom of industry professionals. After fifteen years as a Texas teacher and coach, he carried forward the same commitment to clarity, encouragement, and personal growth when he entered the insurance field in 1982. Over the decades, his CIC and LUTCF designations, along with leadership roles in NAIFA and the American Health Insurance Association, built a foundation of credibility—but it is his passion for teaching that truly defines him.

Some moments stand out vividly in his memory. As a young participant in CIC and Ruble classes, he sat in the back row thinking, I can teach better than this. When he finally taught his first four-hour session in Plano, Texas, he walked out convinced they would never invite him back. Instead, they loved him. More than 25 years later, he remains a proud member of the Risk & Insurance Education Alliance faculty, teaching both basic and advanced courses across the country.

What keeps him energized is simple: the people. Whether in person or online, he treasures the chance to meet professionals who care deeply about serving their clients. His favorite moments are the “lightbulb flashes”—those instances when a concept clicks and he can see understanding spark across a room. As the self-described “Retirement Repairman,” he brings the same educator’s heart to his clients, guiding them through lifeshaping decisions with patience and purpose.

Charlie likes to say he’s an ABC kind of guy—Aggie, Bohemian, Coach. But at his core, he’s always been a teacher, grateful for the privilege of helping others grow.
