A Six-Week, No Cost,
Virtual Experience
Designed for students who are curious, capable, and ready to challenge themselves as they explore careers in insurance and risk management. Through a structured six-week experience, students complete self-paced coursework while participating in live, mentor-led virtual sessions twice per week.
Real Credentialing Opportunity
This is more than a summer program. It is an early professional credentialing opportunity administered by the Risk & Insurance Education Alliance. Students build foundational knowledge toward the nationally recognized Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation.
What You Will Experience
A Virtual Start to Your Professional Journey
Over six weeks, students engage in professional CISR coursework that introduces the foundations of risk management and insurance. The program blends independent learning with live faculty engagement, creating an interactive and supportive virtual environment.
Students strengthen critical thinking, communication skills, and professional confidence while gaining real insight into how the insurance industry manages risk for businesses and individuals.
Live Virtual Sessions
Twice per week (Monday and Thursday)
60 to 90 minutes per session
Each session includes:
- Guided review of CISR learning objectives
- Direct engagement with Alliance faculty
- Real-world examples from insurance and risk management professionals
- Interactive discussion and applied learning
Students are expected to come prepared, participate actively, and contribute thoughtfully to discussions.
CISR Curriculum
Participants complete:
- CISR Elements of Risk Management
- CISR Insuring Personal Auto
Assigned self-paced coursework is completed outside of live sessions. This structure allows students to build independence while receiving consistent guidance and mentorship.
By the conclusion of the program, students will have gained foundational industry knowledge and made meaningful progress toward earning the CISR designation.
Who Should Apply?
The Virtual Cohort is intended for students who:
- Are rising high school juniors, rising seniors, or recent graduates
- Are interested in careers in insurance, business, finance, or risk management
- Are comfortable engaging in a virtual learning environment
- Are ready to commit to a structured six-week academic experience
Commitment & Requirements
Applicants must:
- Commit to attending two live virtual sessions per week for six weeks
- Complete assigned self-paced coursework
- Have reliable access to a laptop or desktop computer with internet and a camera
- Submit name and contact information for one nomination from an educator or industry professional
- Have parent or guardian consent if under age 18
Space is limited, and applications are reviewed competitively.

Students may select one of the following six-week sessions:
Session 1: June 8 – July 17
Session 2: July 20 – August 28
Industry-Backed Opportunity
The CISR High School Virtual Cohort is available at NO COST to participants through the support of the Emerging Talent Partners Program, a coalition of insurance agencies, carriers, and industry leaders committed to strengthening the future talent pipeline in risk management and insurance.
Through this support, students gain access to faculty expertise, industry perspectives, and a professional learning experience aligned with real workforce needs. The program reflects a shared industry commitment to invest early in the next generation of insurance professionals
